Our Heritage

The growth of Carrier Company has been an organic one and is testament to our commitment to classic clean design, good quality materials and investment in our local community.

Since 1995, single mum Tina Guillory has established a way of creating and providing work for other local artisans; friends who hand- make her designs from their homes in Norfolk.

Her designs are inspired by and take the textures of her environment: the canvas sails of dinghies in the creeks, weatherproof fisherman's Slops and oilskins and forged steel from country blacksmiths; she is drawn to natural and renewable fabrics like jute that work harmoniously with the landscape.

Everything we make continues to be well tried and tested, to be what we have used in every day rural living in Norfolk for the last fifty years; whether it be gathering firewood, fishing, gardening or gamboling in the woods. Heavy duty, every day things designed to get better with age and be passed down from one generation to the next.

Tina has always been an environmentalist. In London she would take her children along on Greenpeace and CND marches, worked and baked for a whole foods shop, and became a gardener renowned for transforming London's small formal spaces into self-sustaining wildernesses full of wild flowers and organic shapes.

About us

Carrier Company was formed in 1995. The creation of Tina Guillory; who works from her 17th century brick and flint farmhouse, close to the great expanses of marsh and the huge beaches of the north Norfolk coast.

Her designs take the textures and inspirations of her world. Canvas sails of the dinghies in the creeks, weatherproof fisherman's Slops and oilskins, forged steel from country blacksmiths, plus the requirements of family and friends.

The range is gradually expanding and now includes more garden and other clothing; however the emphasis is that everything in the collection continues to be well tried and tested, useful, functional, good-looking, and made to last.

Made by local people, all enthusiastically involved in the growth of the company, the hardwearing bags are ideal for shopping, gardening or gathering cockles or driftwood.

Aprons, Log Carriers, Garden Kneelers and tool bags speak of long days in the garden. Weatherproof jerkins and hardwearing Smocks are great for working or walking.

The Norfolk fire pipe brings the dying embers in the grate back to life. This range continues to expand with new ideas and requests from customers, friends and family.

Carrier Company wares can be seen and bought from us here in Wighton, North Norfolk, open Monday to Friday 9.30 to 3.30 or you can purchase online from this site and by mail order. The small staff are very friendly and willing to answer your queries.

Items are carefully packed for posting in the flint shed beside Tina's house while her hens cluck among the wild roses in her garden.

Tina founded Carrier Company after leaving London and returning to the familial stomping ground of the North Norfolk coast. The company is named for the first Carrier Company product, the Classic Carrier, a generous square of fabric with a handle at each corner, traditionally used by the gardeners of the past.
